Sound for Video Session: Dialogue Compression Ear Training & Q&A

In this week's session, it's time for some ear training. When working with dialogue audio, I find it helps to train your ears and so that's exactly what we'll do here. We'll use a compressor to help you HEAR how this changes the quality of sound. After that, we answer your sound for video questions.

Sound for Video Session: Setup NDI Audio & Q&A

Sound for Video Session: Troubleshooting Recorder Issues & Q&A

In this week's session, we cover how to troubleshoot issues when you're trying to record with your field recorder/mixer, and you're not getting what you need. For example, what do you do if you can see that your mics are capturing something because the meters are moving, but you can't hear. Or perhaps like on our livestream last week, the mics were capturing sound and the automix was working, but that's not what we were hearing on the stream. We'll walk you through a technique that will ensure you can narrow down where the problem lies so that you can fix it. After that, we answer your sound for video questions.

Sound for Video Session: Testing Automixers & Q&A

In this week's session, let's test a few automixers to hear how they differ. Automix is useful for cases where you're recording or live broadcasting multiple people with multiple mics in the same space. If you don't use an automixer of some sort, you'll end up with microphone bleed, comb filtering, and more noise. An automixer will help reduce all three of those issues.
