What is a dB (decibel)?

Great article by Steve DeMott over at Production Expert titled, “dBs Explained: A Musician's Guide To Understanding Decibels.” While it is aimed at musicians, it is 100% relevant for filmmakers and good to understand the different dB scales so you can sort out problems, interconnect gear, calibrate levels, and become a better mixer. Take your time to absorb it, you will be happy you did.

Live Sound for Video Session: Accentize VoiceGate & Q&A

Hello Soundies! In this week's Sound for Video Session we demonstrated a new dialogue de-noise plugin which evidently uses neural networks to more effectively separate voice from noise. We ran a few different audio clips through the plugin to show where it excels and where it is not quite as effective. You can find out more about the VoiceGate plugin at https://www.accentize.com.
