Beyerdynamic PRO X Headphones and Microphones — DT 700 PRO X, DT 900 PRO X, M 70, and M 90 PRO X

In this episode, we have a look at the new PRO X line of headphones and microphones from Beyerdynamic. I’ve owned the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 ohm headphones for over 12 years and also had the DT 880 Pro 250 ohm headphones for nearly as long. The new DT 700 and DT 900 PRO X headphones raise the bar further with newly designed drives rated at 48 ohms, along with replaceable cables, ear pads, and headband cushions. And all this while still having one fo the most comfortable fits I’ve ever experienced in headphones.

They also added two new microphones: The M 70 PRO X which is a dynamic broadcast style microphone and the M 90 PRO X, a large diaphragm condenser microphone with a sound signature I really like.

The headphones come in at $299 USD. The M 70 comes in at $299 USD while the M 90 PRO X comes in at $349 USD at the time of this review.

You can hear the difference between the Beyerdynamic M 90 PRO X and one of my favorite live-stream microphones, the Earthworks SR314.

We also cover why using headphones alone is not ideal and can make mixing a frustrating experience. We also underscore the importance of reviewing your mixes on lots of different playback systems: Near field monitors, hifi system, car sound system, smartphone earbuds, TV, etc.
