Zoom F6 Audio Recorder Review
In today’s episode, we give you some audio samples from the new RODE NTG5 shotgun microphone and Zoom F6 recorder while we talk about the bebob micro cinema batteries. The headline feature of these batteries is that they are tiny relative to other cinema style batteries. They come in V-mount/V-lock or Anton Bauer Gold Mount. While they aren’t the cheapest cine batteries out there, they appear to be top quality and have some unique features like twist d-tap outputs, USB outputs, and an in-built flash light. But what is more interesting is that once the batteries have been used and their ability to hold a charge degrades, you can send them back to bebob and for about 1/2 the price of the original battery, they will put new cells in the battery. If you drop your battery and one of the physical parts break, they can be replaced.

CORRECTION: In the video I noted that you cannot record at 192kHz in 32-bit float mode. Actually, you can, but must disable the LR stereo mix, turn off all limiters, and turn off AutoMix.

Sound Devices 833: Why do Pros Use Gear Like This?
Sound Devices has a strong history of providing high end audio field recorders for film and TV production., having won several prestigious technical awards. Five years ago, Sound Devices announced their 633 professional recorder/mixer with three mic/line inputs and three line inputs. Today, the 633 is a very popular recorder amongst professional production sound mixers. Many who work smaller productions use it as their primary recorder. Others use it as a secondary recorder in a bag when they’re not mixing from a sound cart on a larger format mixer.
And now, Sound Devices has released the 833 - their next generation, pro level, compact mixer/recorder. In this episode we cover two main questions:

In 2017, Sound Devices first made their high quality audio recorders available to a larger pro-sumer audience with the introduction of the MixPre-3, 6, and 10T recorders. And now, in 2019, they have updated the MixPre line with their new II Series of recorders - The MixPre-3 II, MixPre-6 II, and MixPre-10 II. In this episode, we cover the new features on the II series of recorders, including the wide dynamic range and 32-bit float recording features and compare it to a similar recorder, the Zoom F6.

Sound Devices MixPre II Series with Paul Isaacs
Sound Devices recently announced an update to their MixPre series of recorders. The update brings some impressive new features including wide dynamic range recording (up to 142dB), 32-bit float recording, backup to USB Drive, longer pre-roll times, increased output levels on the MixPre 10 balanced outputs, and more. Sound for Video Session: Sound Devices MixPre II Series
In this week's live Sound for Video Session, We talk about the just announced Sound Devices MixPre II Series of recorders. Sound Devices has added 32 bit float wav recording which they claim enables recording of 142dB of dynamic range. In addition, The 3 and 6 now both have 192kHz sample rate support, all three have USB backup copy capability, adjustable limiters, and 10 second pre-roll.
